It is with great pleasure that I am seeking to obtain a middle school mathematics teaching position at your school. I believe that my teaching skills and abilities combined with my strong work ethic and passion for positively influencing youth would greatly benefit your school.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in secondary (6-12) mathematics education from Western Michigan University, after completing my student teaching in a sixth grade and seventh grade mathematics classroom. I have a Master of Arts in Education from Michigan State University. I also obtained my Certificate of Online Teaching and Learning through my master's, which I hope to be able to use to enhance differentiated instruction and formative assessment in my teaching.

I believe that as a mathematics teacher, I will have the unique opportunity to help students grow not only in a subject matter that they often struggle in, but also for them to develop skills of hard work, patience, perseverance, and collaboration. In my classroom, I aim to have my students grow academically and personally. Respect and kindness are top priorities for me, and I make sure to model these to my students. I have found that even the most challenging students respond very positively to my methods of building rapport with them, an invaluable foundation of good classroom management.

I am very knowledgeable in middle school mathematics and methods of conveying procedural and conceptual understanding to students. I am very organized and resourceful, often using the best resources I can find to enrich mathematical thinking and solidify basic understanding. I relate the concepts students learn to the real world as much as possible, so they can see mathematics’ applications and importance. I make it one of my top priorities to work with struggling students and to build a positive mindset towards mathematics in every student and to grow their confidence in themselves.
